Vijay Singh's caddie: "It was either nothing or negative"

No shock that Vijay Singh isn't the most liked golfer in the world. But apparently, according to Dave "Buddy" Renwick, his caddie for the 18 months leading into this season, the world's No. 1 golfer isn't a very nice person either.

This, from Renwick in the Scotsman, on Singh:

"I never got a ‘good morning’ from Vijay. Or ‘good club’ after a shot. Or ‘have a nice night’ at the end of a day. It was either nothing or a negative if he did speak to me. Being courteous isn’t much to ask. I know, too, that other players - those we played practice rounds with - had told Vijay to lighten up with me. But he never did. He was always tossing clubs and accusing me of getting yardages wrong. There’s only so much of that stuff you can take, no matter how good the money is."

Sounds like a charming chap? No surprise he has so few sponsors.

Wow. Thats a real disappointment. These guys work so hard with tremendous loyalty to their player. There is little worse than a hostile working environment. Much different than the seemingly good relationship between Bones and Phil. I was also disapponted when Tiger blamed Steve for the club slection at the Masters last year. It did not befit the persona of a true champion golfer who respects the game. Nicklaus never acted in anything other than a consummate good sport. In fact, I dont think I have ever, EVER publicly heard a player denounce a caddy like that on national TV with one justifiable exception...when Woosnam ripped his caddy for keeping the 15th club in his bag (an extra driver he was trying out) at the final round of the 2001 British open. Surprisingly, he kept his job...until a mere few months later when he overslept and missed Ian's tee time. Speaking of colorful golfers, what is your opinion of Jonathan Kaye? Has his behavior improved since the well-publicized run ins he has had? I notice he hasd played very well in the last 18 months.
